  • We have received horrific information about the puppies that you all kindly donated food for.

Number of the puppies have been killed and the rest of the stray dogs have been rounded up in the area and sold apart from the mother dog.

Our sources have confirmed that the animal traffickers and dog meat traders have been operating in the area and have taken all the dogs and some members of the community are aware but so far have not stopped them yet!

It was also confirmed the food and bowls that we bought were locked up at the compound and only recently the only remaining dog which is the mother dog was fed on the day a foreign visiting volunteer was at the compound. The staff at the compound are stopping the help for the dogs and have been prevented the volunteers from feeding them using intimation.

This is why we urgently need your help to be able to stop this cycle of SUFFERING & BARBARITY.

There are brutal people who want to make money off foreign visitors visiting the regions whilst they continue to consume dogs and cats and exploit animals, this is happening across Ghana.

This is a huge problem as not only is it horrific but it spreads deadly disease through consumption of dog cat and wildlife meat and also spread of rabies which is deadly to animals and humans.

Unfortunately there are ruthless people who prey on these animals and the poverty, lack of education in these communities. These animals are also suffering from malnutrition, mistreatment, and abandonment lack of awareness about proper animal care and veterinary care.

Coalition for Cruelty Free Africa is working in Ghana to change this.

Through community engagement and education on animal behaviour and animal protection and the creation of feeding stations for stray and neglected animals dogs and cats, we aim to make lasting changes in how animals are treated not only in the Tinkong community but across all regions.

Our goal is to prevent and stop animal cruelty establish feeding stations, alongside responsible pet ownership and animal care.

Your donation will help us teach the community to protect their animals and help feed the strays animals, educate the community, and create a safer environment for these animals.

Ghana has high population of stray dogs and cats the government have so far no current programmes for neutering vaccination.

The long term plan is to have a Humane reduction of overpopulation of stray dogs and cats. Through carefully managed humane neuter and release programs for stray dogs and cats throughout the regions which is to be undertaken by caring qualified vets and with after care provided for the animals

We will NOT GIVE UP and will continue working with volunteers in Ghana to STOP this CYCLE of ABUSE.

The money donated means our volunteers will be able to to go into these communities to help these animals.

These are our long term goals please support the helping the strays in Ghana project in anyway you can.

      1. Provide daily food for starving dogs and cats as well feeding areas / feeding stations for the stray dogs and cats.

      2. Provide proper veterinary care and also Vaccinations against rabies and disease.

3.. We also need volunteer vets to help ensure that they get the right veterinary treatment.

So please if you are able to help kindly Donate.

Helping the Stray Dogs and Cats in Ghana

It was brought  to Coalition Cruelty Free Africa attention the urgent problem  regarding suffering starving stray puppies/ dogs in Koforidua Ghana.

Ghana has high population of stray dogs and cats the government have no current programmes for neutering vaccination and unfortunately there are some ruthless people who consume dogs and cats. This is a huge problem as not only is it brutal but it encourages the spread of disease through consumption of dog cat and wildlife meat and also spread of rabies which is deadly to animals and humans.

The long term plan is to have a Humane reduction of overpopulation of stray dogs and cats. Through carefully managed humane neuter and release programs for stray dogs and cats throughout the regions which is to be undertaken by caring qualified vets and with after care provided for the animals

The money we raise will feed the starving dogs and puppies in the area and we have also located groups of more starving stray dogs and cats in the nearby region who also desperately need help

The money donated means our volunteers will be able to feed them. Currently we have ZERO money and are really in need of donations to help feed the stray dogs and cats some of which are in the pictures above

These are our long term goals please support the helping the strays in Ghana project in anyway you can.

2. Provide proper veterinary care and also Vaccinations against rabies and disease.

3.Our current wonderful volunteers in Ghana will be sending us updates but they desperately need dog and cat food so they can feed the dogs and puppies as currently they are running out of food and with no donations they will be unable to continue.

4. We also need volunteer vets to help ensure that  they get the right veterinary treatment.

So please if you are able to help kindly donate.

Our mission is for a Cruelty Free Africa for Animals and People.

We aim towards Saving the Lives of as many Animals and the future generations to come.

To be a collective voice to educate campaign & to Stop Cruelty and Protect the magnificent Animals across Africa.

We are connecting with likeminded caring organisations in Africa and especially in the last year in Ghana.

We have connected with individuals, Vegan Society of Ghana, vets from the Veterinary Council of Ghana and a few other animal welfare groups.

We have raised awareness through our campaigns to stop the consumption of Dog and Cat meat through several billboard campaigns in Accra ‘Dogs and Cats are family not food’ campaign which has been running for over 6 months and we are looking for new locations to help spread awareness especially in the remote regions.

INTRODUCTION

For the past year CFCFA has been working with a number of Ghanaian people and a small organisations

It is evident that there is a desperate need to educate the people especially in the communities young and old and to encourage kind treatment of all animals, animal welfare and responsible pet ownership.

To provide urgent protection and rescue / shelters and safety for in danger, abandoned and abused dogs and cats.

There is huge problem with out of control overbreeding selling of dogs cats.

There is no spay or neutering programmes in place. Although there is minimal animal welfare law it is clear its not being enforced.

WHAT NEEDS TO BE ACCOMPLISHED REGION BY REGION ACROSS GHANA

    • To highlight the dangers of the consumption of dog and cat meat and to END this brutal animal cruelty trade •

    • Educate and introduce alternative sources to meat through introduction of growing healthy crops for food and as a source of income.

    • Educate about care kindness, welfare and protection of Animals by liasing with the leaders in the community.

    • Implement spay and neutering vaccination programs in all the regions which will help the animals and the people in their communities by reducing disease•

    • To Stop the Killing of dogs and cats for food and for animal sacrifices.

    • Highlight the importance of dogs cats as companion animals family not food.

    • To Stop the Killing of dogs and cats for food and for animal sacrifices.

    • Highlight the importance of dogs cats as companion animals family not food.

    • Work with vets in each region so they can set up shelters and rescues in their regions.

    • If they don’t have vets to contact the chairman of the Veterinary Council of Ghana for assistance also organisations such as Vets without Borders to assist in particularly in rural areas.

    • To actively engage with politicians in the regions so they will be able to help with the enforcement of the minimal current animal welfare laws and for further updating of those particular laws.

CURRENT SITUATION IN GHANA

Unfortunately, as highlighted Animal welfare laws in Ghana are not being enforced as a result dogs and cats animals in general are suffering every day.

The only international organisation currently working in Ghana is SPANA who are dedicated to helping equines donkeys but they are not able to help with the dogs and cats due to lack of resources.

There are currently no dog rescues or dog shelters or spay/neuter programs, therefore, many dogs and cats end up abandoned, suffering.

Stray dogs as well as dogs deliberately over bred including their puppies are sold to the brutal dog meat markets.

In our investigation we found dog dealers which included some vets in Accra selling suffering terrified dogs including via social media platforms such as What’s App, Facebook, TikTok & X (Twitter)
